This visit was part of the Action on Climate and Trade (ACT) Final Workshop held by BKPerdag, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, and the World Trade Organization. The ACT program in Indonesia aims to accelerate adaptation and mitigation efforts related to climate change.

During the visit, BKPerdag engaged in discussions with Impack regarding various developments and challenges faced by the Company as a producer and exporter of building materials in Indonesia. This visit provided an opportunity for the Ministry of Trade and the World Economic Forum to see firsthand the concrete efforts that Impack has made and will make in terms of sustainability, as well as to offer insight and input to policymakers on advancing sustainable trade in Indonesia, particularly in the building materials sector.

The Director of Sustainability and Product Development at Impack, Sugiarto Romeli, accompanied the visit and presented a range of sustainable products from Impack’s subsidiary, PT Sirkular Karya Indonesia (SKI). PT SKI was highlighted in the discussions, given its focus on producing building materials made from environmentally friendly, post-consumer recycled plastic that is upcycled into primary materials. BKPerdag expressed full support for PT SKI’s efforts, including promoting the production of sustainable building materials in Indonesia, with the hope that these products will be competitive in the export market.
